Beginner: No (or little) understanding of the game and no (or little) experience playing on a snooker table. Average high break is under 15 points.

Novice: Basic to mid-level understanding of the game, strategy and experience playing club level matches. No (or little) experience playing in tournaments. Average high break is 15 – 30 points.

Amateur: Full understanding of the game, rules, strategy and several years’ experience playing club level matches and some experience playing in tournaments. Average high break is 30 – 60 points.

Professional: Full understanding of the game, rules, strategy and several years’ experience playing professional level tournaments and possibly winning prize money etc. Average high break is over 60 points.
