Beginner: Little to basic understanding of the game and no (or little) experience playing on a snooker table. Average high break is under 15 points regardless of how long the player has been playing snooker.

Novice: Basic to mid-level understanding of the game, strategy and experience playing club level matches. No (or little) experience playing in tournaments. Average high break is 15 – 30 points regardless of how long the player has been playing snooker.

Amateur: Full understanding of the game, rules, strategy and several years’ experience playing club level matches and some experience playing in tournaments and possibly winning prize money. Average high break is 30 – 60 points regardless of how long the player has been playing snooker.

Professional: Full understanding of the game, rules, strategy and several years’ experience playing professional level tournaments and possibly winning prize money etc. Average high break is over 60 points.
